백암산 파로호권 생태·체험벨트 조성 추진
【화천】최근 남북분단의 상징인 비무장지대(DMZ)의 활용방안에 관한 제안이 잇따르고 있는 가운데 화천군이 추진하고 있는 DMZ이용 정책에 관심이 모아지고 있다.
19일 화천군에 따르면 통일시대를 대비해 화천군이 평화와 생태의 관광지대로 가기 위한 사전포석으로 ‘평화의 중심으로서의 화천건설’이라는 정책목표를 세워놓고 있다.
화천군은 이미 DMZ부근 ‘백암산 및 파로호권의 평화·생태·체험벨트 조성시책’을 특구로 지정하는데 정책방향을 설정, 추진중이다.
이에 따라 임남댐 전망대, 평화박물관, 수상리 생태체험공원을 비롯해 댐과 물 체험공원을 아우르는 백암산 평화체험 공원 조성과 파로호권 테마밸리 조성, 말골 수생태 체험공원, 해외파병용사 만남의장 조성, 강원 스키리조트 조성 등 시책을 수립해 사업을 진행하고 있다.
특히 화천군이 오는 2007년 세계인이 함께하는 국제자연보존연맹(IUCN) 제10차 국제수달회의를 유치함에 따라 화천군의 수달 관련 사업은 물론 명실상부한 ‘한국의 생태중심도시 화천’을 만들어 나가는데 탄력을 받게 됐다.
최광선군의원은 “자연의 위대한 평화구역으로서 세계유산 지정의 가치가 있다고 평가받고 있는 DMZ를 이제 인간과 인간, 인간과 자연이 함께 누릴 수 있는 진정한 평화의 공원으로 가꾸어야 한다”며 “국내·외 평화학 학자들이 한데 모여 DMZ를 이용해 세계 평화의 새로운 시각과 지평을 열어줄 수 있도록 화천에서 평화 심포지엄을 개최하는 것도 바람직하다”는 견해를 제시했다.
화천군 관계자는“평화의댐과 파로호 등이 있는 화천군으로서는 이데올로기의 변천으로 이어진 남북 화해협력 시대를 맞아 DMZ의 가치를 판단,중·장기적인 안목에서 정책적인 활용방안을 모색하고 있다 ”고 말했다.
