평균 PH 4.9 … 수도권 대기오염 영향
【춘천】 댐으로 둘러싸인 춘천지역에 내리는 안개의 평균 PH가 4.9로, 서울
의 4.7과 비슷한 수준으로 나타나 산성화가 심각한 것으로 조사됐다.
강원대 환경과학과 김만구교수는 25일‘댐으로 인한 춘천지역 환경변화’논
문에서 이 같이 밝히고 “산성 안개의 영향으로 춘천지역에서는 나뭇잎 끝 부
분이 산성안개에 반복적으로 노출돼 고사하고 있는 사실이 발견됐다”고 말했
다.
또 강이나 댐주변의 철골구조물을 산성안개에 노출시켰을 경우와 일반 증류
수에 노출시켰을 경우를 비교실험한 결과, 춘천지역과 조건과 유사한 PH 4 수
준의 산성안개에 노출된 구조물의 피로강도가 약 80% 정도 감소한 것으로 밝혀
졌다.
김교수는 “춘천의 산성안개는 서울과 수도권이 위치한 서쪽방향 공기의 영
향을 받은 것”이라며“이런 결과는 수도권으로부터 자동차 등의 배출원에서
기인한 질소산화물이 산성화에 매우 중요한 영향을 끼친다는 것을 입증한다”
고 강조했다.
춘천지역은 다른 댐 주변지역과 마찬가지로 평균 5일에 하루 정도 안개가 발
생하며 소양댐 밑에 위치한 의암호의 영향으로 겨울철 안개발생일수가 다른 지
역보다 월등히 높다는 것.
김만구교수는 “춘천지역은 지난 74년 소양댐 건설이후 안개일수가 전년도
의 31일에서 77일로 2배 이상 증가했다”며“춘천지역 안개가 수도권 공기 이
동으로 생물과 구조물에 악영향을 끼치는 산성성분이 매우 높다는 사실이 밝혀
진 만큼 보다 구체적인 연구가 진행돼야 한다”고 주장했다. 이 호
