장렬히 전사한 충무공 金應河(김응하) 장군의 무훈과 충절을 기리기 위하여 현종 7년(1666)에 건
립된 사당으로 자세한 연혁은 아래와 같다.
--조선 현종 7년(1666 병오)에 府(부)의 南(남) 4리 화전리 一峰山(일봉산) 기슭(역촌동)에 30간
규모의 祠宇(사우)를 건립하고, 현종 9년, 포충사로 賜額(사액)되다.

廟庭碑(묘정비)를 제작하다.

보내 懸板(현판)하였고 신위는 明帝贈(명제증) 遼東伯 忠武公 金應河 將軍 神位(요동백 충무공 김
응하 장군 신위)로 賜額(사액)하다.

에는 1년에 2회(2월과 8월 중정일) 철원향교 전교 집례와 철원군수의 초헌으로 성대하게 지내왔으
며 특히 전야제는 마을 남정네들이 싸리나무를 묶어 만든 횃불을 밝혀 축제의 분위기를 한층 더
돋구었으니 이것을 炬火待令(거화대령)이라 한다.
--철원의 포충사외 김충무공을 제사했던 사당은 출전당시 군수로 있었던 평안도 宣川(선천)의 義
烈祠(의열사)《숙종 23년(1697) 건, 영조 9년(1733) 4월 7일 사액 및 중수》에 김장군을 비롯하여
적에게 붙들렸으나 항복을 아니하고 죽은 창성부사 鄭奇男(정기남)과 선천출신의 430여명의 전사
자들의 충렬을 추모 제사지내 왔으며 사당 두 기둥에는 “春秋大義日月精忠(춘추대의일월정충)”
의 여덟글자와 최후 결전의 고사에 따라 큰 버드나무 두 그루를 심어서 보는 사람의 감회를 깊게
하였다 한다.
--또한 昌城(창성)의 忠烈祠(충렬사)《숙종 21년(1695) 8월 1일 사액》와 함경도 鍾城(종성)의 行
營祠(행영사)《현종 7년(1666) 건》에는 皇甫仁(황보인), 金宗瑞 (김종서)장군과 함께 김응하 장
군을 봉향하였으며 慶源(경원)의 忠烈祠(충렬사)《숙종 18년(1629) 건》에는 工曹參判 貞武公 崔
震立(공조참판 정무공 최진립)과 함께 김장군을 배향했으니 그의 충절과 유덕을 추모하고 있는 곳
이 많았음을 알 수 있다.

■ 褒忠祠于銘誌(포충사우명지)
--포충사우는 372여 년전인 1618년 광해군 11년 여진족 청이 반란을 일으키자 명나라에서 구원병

하사 명나라에서도 장군의 무공을 찬양 요동백을 봉하였다. 그 후 1666년 병오 헌종 7년 향리 一峰
山瑩下(일봉산형하) 역촌동(현 화지리)에 사우를 건립하였고 정조대왕의 親筆御製 詩(친필어제
시)를 하사 趙鎭寬(조진관)을 보내어 현판하였고 신위는 明帝贈(명제증) 遼東伯 忠武公 金應河 將
軍 神位(요동백 충무공 김응하 장군 신위)로 賜額(사액)하시었다.
--본 군에서는 每歲(매세) 음 2월 8월 中丁日(중정일) 유생원 다수 춘추 봉향 참사 繼傳(계전)에
임하였다. 1683년 계해 尤庵(우암) 宋時烈(송시열) 선생 撰(찬) 묘정비를 獻竪(헌수) 300여 년동
안 보존되었으나 1950년 경인 6.25동란으로 인하여 포충사우는 소실되고 민통선 북방위치임에 자
유로이 출입이 불가능하여 3군사령부 영내에 안치 묘정비를 현위치로 복원코저 懇切(간절)한 염
원하에 본 유생원 일동은 포충사 복원사업추진위원회를 조직 정계 요로에 진정 및 철원군수의 탁
월한 노력에 환원케 되었으나 원위치 복귀가 불가함에 유생원 희생적인 出捐(출연)으로 현 敷地
(부지) 위치에 묘정비를 1984년 4월 3일 복원 안치하였다. 포충사우를 건립코저 유생 제위는 항상
몽중 염원하였던 바 이 고장 출신 국회의원 金在淳(김재순), 철원군수 曺圭榮(조규영), 복원사업
추진위원회 제위의 탁월한 노력과 유생원 제위 등이 중심, 재건에 박차를 가하여 오늘에 이르러
포충사우를 건립하였다.
