서울지역 초등학생들이 청정환경이 그대로 살아있는 DMZ 두타연과 6·25전적지를 찾아 현장체험학습을 하는 등 양구지역이 생태관광코스로 떠오르고 있다.
200여명으로 구성된 서울지역 초등학교 스카우트생들은 9일부터 이틀간 양구청소년수련관에서 머물면서 두타연에서 서식하는 열목어를 비롯한 자연생태와 6·25전적지를 둘러보고 군부대를 찾아 병영체험활동을 펼친다.
또 박수근미술관견학에 이어 양구생태식물원을 찾아 비무장지대를 비롯한 접경지역에서 서식하는 희귀식물을 관찰하는 자연학습도 병행하기로 했다.
이에따라 양구지역 두타연과 안보전적지가 전국 초·중·고생과 가족단위 관광객및 동호인들의 자연생태관광코스로 인기를 끌고 있다.
방산면 두타연 일원은 금강산가는 길목으로 청정수와 함께 지난 50여년간 민간인의 발길이 닿지않은 곳으로 냉수성 어종인 열목어를 비롯한 천연기념물인 산양과 하늘 다람쥐 쇠딱따구리 매발톱꽃 등 희귀동식물이 다량으로 서식하고 있다.
군 관계자는 “두타연을 찾는 가족단위 관광객및 동호인들은 분단이후 민간인들의 출입통제로 잘 보존된 자연생태계를 한눈에 감상할 수 있다”며 “일반인들이 이틀전까지 두타연출입을 신청하면 현장체험이 가능하다”고 했다. <楊口=鄭來奭기자·nsjeong@kwnews.co.kr>
